New information has come to light about this story. I actually believed it was
by Ross Andru rather than Stern, similar to the funny style he later used in Up
Your Nose and failed newspaper strip attempts. And of course Andru was
fascinated/obsessed with Kurtzman. But Charles Stern's granddaughter wrote to
me that her father did indeed work on at least one these three stories: "I came
across a comic book titled  Mister Mystery #2. I found out that my grandfather
had had a part in the inking/linework for that comic". To me it is still
possible that Stern inked over Andru, but I hope to find out more.
